CMPS161: Introduction to Data Visualization
Concepts and methods for data analysis, information and scientific visualization, and effective communication of technical data. Topics include: mathematical foundations; scalar, vector, and tensor field visualization; multivariate visualization; and tree and graph visualizations. Applications are drawn from social-network analysis; environmental and space science; and medical imaging. Evaluation based on examinations, programming exercises, and a project. Prerequisite(s): course 160 or equivalent. Concurrent enrollment in course 161L required.5 credits
